The NRStudio’s professional and innovative ballet and contemporary classes explore the infinite possibilities of dance education. Multi-layered education techniques include a broad technical concept that informs strategic and crafted class planning. Specially created choreographies, as well as comprehensive workshops, support the concept explored, as well as inspire and guide regular class practice. NRStudio classes are inspired by the studio’s pre-pandemic professional adult training dance program, institutions such as as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and Natasha’s theatrical and site specific choreography and performance work.
The foundation of the ballet classes is the Russian and Cuban syllabi. RAD, Cecchetti, Vaganova, as well as Balanchine technique, also inform the classes. Alignment, vocabulary, musicality, and dance history are incorporated into each class. Anatomical technique workshops develop the dancer’s technique, as well as clarify the technical approaches of different ballet traditions. Students are regularly encouraged to explore the dance world through suggested videos/live streams from organizations such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and the Royal Ballet. Additional inspirational online resources are made available through the studio’s facebook page and emails to students. Students are also invited to expand and practice their technique, artistry and performance skills through class choreographies, as well as Studio’s Project O video dances. Project O supports dancers in tracking their individual dance growth, as well as documenting Ottawa’s Centretown neighborhood.

The ballet curriculum uses backwards design. Hence, the advanced classes inform the introductory class. This unique lesson organization encourages the adult dancer to develop their individual dancing intentions and goals at their own pace, while maximizing their potential.
The contemporary work is built on the Limon technique. It is infused with Luigi jazz, Pilates concepts and Natasha’s personal dancing/choreographic experience.
The studio has trained adult dancers who nurture the dance community through professional performance in dance, theatre, and performance art, as well as attend open classes at Ottawa’s National Arts Center and cities including Boston, NYC, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Former students have enrolled in the RAD’s Benesh Institute and been members of art organizations such as the Ottawa Arts Council and Healthy Dancer Canada. Natasha’s belief that the skills taught in class transfer to all parts of life is evidenced by the diverse artistic paths of the studio’s students. She creates a nurturing class environment that presents possibility and many smiles. She is very excited to be creating online classes and video dances, as well as thoughtful instudio classes, that encourage individual technical and artistic growth, as well as dancing passion.
